Description
Is walking good for your joints? Yes — and the honest version of that answer is more interesting than the reassurance. Every stride is a rhythm with three beats: catch, carry, push. When your pelvis swings through all three, walking is not wearing your joints out — it is feeding them, the way training feeds a muscle. Movement, done completely, is your joints’ food supply.
This article walks you through the rhythm itself — the grandfather clock inside you — and then through what more than five hundred case records show happens when it stops being complete. There are two ways a pelvis gets stuck. Stuck in the middle: about one in four of the people in my records, with legs that measure perfectly equal and nothing for any standard test to find. Or never reaching the middle: seven in every ten, carrying a functional difference of millimetres that conventional screening reads as trivial. Each has its own signature, its own risks — and its own way forward, which is where the article ends: with what you can actually do.
Plain language, fully referenced, free to download. This is the lay edition of Research Library paper RL-01, The Mid-Stance Phase of Gait. Don’t wait to break.
