Why RESET™ exists

Back pain is rarely just about one painful body part.

Back pain often involves the nervous system, breath, movement habits, load tolerance, fear, fatigue, sleep, stress, strength, confidence and daily-life patterns. RESET™ treats back pain as a whole-system problem, not simply a local tissue problem.


The aim is not just to give you more exercises. The aim is to help your body understand safety, movement and load again — so you can begin to move with less fear, less guarding and more control.

Before starting BPS RESET™, it is important to understand whether a self-guided app pathway, coached support or medical review is most appropriate for you.


The BPS RAG Screening Tool helps people, coaches and practitioners think this through using a simple Red, Amber and Green framework. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace medical advice. It is there to support safer decision-making, clearer referral boundaries and better use of RESET™.

Green

May be suitable for a self-guided or lightly supported RESET™ pathway, provided symptoms are stable and no concerning features are present.

Amber

May benefit from extra guidance, coaching, pacing, adaptation or professional support before progressing independently.

Red

Should seek appropriate medical assessment before beginning or progressing a movement programme.

Two ways to begin RESET™.

RESET™ Solo and RESET™ Coaching are built from the same Back Pain Systems™ principles. The difference is the level of support, guidance and accountability around you.

Self-guided app pathway

RESET™ Solo

RESET™ Solo is the self-guided pathway inside The Body Systems App, within the Back Pain Systems™ system. It is organised around four app-based RESET™ phases that you work through independently and at your own pace.

RESET™ Coaching

RESET™ Coaching is the supported pathway through RESET™. It begins with a 12-week coaching block, where a trained RESET Coach™ helps you understand, apply and integrate the programme with more guidance and accountability.

The coached pathway

RESET™ Coaching: six supported phases through the first 12 weeks.

RESET™ Solo follows the app-based RESET™ pathway. RESET™ Coaching expands this into a supported 12-week, six-stage teaching and progression journey. The aim is not to promise a complete cure in 12 weeks. The aim is to build the foundations for safer movement, fewer relapses and more confidence in daily life.
