The Body Systems™ App
Access to the Back Pain Systems™ RESET™ pathway, learning, guided sessions and supporting resources.
A supported 12-week Back Pain Systems™ RESET™ coaching pathway for nurses with persistent, recurring or work-related back pain.
Delivered through The Body Systems™ App, with local New Zealand coaching led by Teresa Dixon and clinical framework oversight from Dr Jo Abbott.
Long shifts, repeated bending and lifting, limited recovery time, interrupted sleep and emotional load can all influence recurring back pain.
Back pain is rarely experienced in isolation from the rest of life. A flare-up may be influenced by movement, load, confidence, fatigue, stress, recovery, breathing, sleep and the way the nervous system is responding.
The purpose of this pilot is not to tell nurses that their backs are damaged or fragile. It is to help each participant understand their own patterns, build confidence with movement and develop a clearer, more sustainable self-management plan.
The New Zealand Nurse RESET™ Pilot combines a structured pathway inside The Body Systems™ App with weekly human coaching and local support.
Participants are supported to understand their back pain, respond more calmly to flare-ups, gradually rebuild movement confidence and explore the wider drivers that may be influencing their experience.
No magic claims. No promise of a cure. No one-size-fits-all programme.
The app provides the structured RESET™ pathway. Teresa helps the group understand it, apply it, pace it and remain engaged throughout the 12 weeks.
Access to the Back Pain Systems™ RESET™ pathway, learning, guided sessions and supporting resources.
One structured 90-minute group RESET™ coaching session each week, led locally by Teresa Dixon.
Guided app-based RESET™ work between sessions, typically two to three times each week.
Baseline, midpoint, completion and follow-up measures to understand what changes and what remains challenging.
Teresa is a Clinical Neuromuscular Therapist with 30 years of hands-on experience and is acting as the New Zealand local pilot leader and RESET Coach™ for this founding cohort.
She will support nurses to apply the Back Pain Systems™ RESET™ pathway under agreement with Dr Jo Abbott.
Support local recruitment, answer initial questions, contribute to suitability screening and help accepted participants prepare for onboarding.
Lead weekly group sessions, support app use, maintain engagement, provide bounded local support and identify concerns requiring referral.
Help participants review progress, barriers, adherence and their next stage of RESET™ practice.
Support outcome collection, final reflection and each nurse’s personal RESET™ maintenance plan.
The weekly session combines education, reflection and guided practical work. This keeps the app at the centre of the pathway while ensuring nurses are not left to work through it without support.
Depending on cohort location and logistics, sessions may be delivered face-to-face, live online or through an agreed hybrid structure.
The six-stage coaching journey provides direction while allowing each nurse to work from their own starting point and progress at an appropriate pace.
Understanding flare-ups, reducing unnecessary fear and creating a calmer internal environment for movement.
Exploring protective strategies, bracing, guarding, avoidance, breathing and repeated work-related habits.
Reconnecting movement across the feet, hips, spine, ribs, breathing system and nervous system.
Gradually developing movement control, load tolerance, physical capacity and confidence where appropriate.
Applying the learning to shifts, recovery, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, sleep and life outside work.
Consolidating learning, building a personal maintenance plan and developing a clearer response to future symptom changes.
This is a supported self-management and coaching pathway. It is not intended to replace medical assessment or urgent clinical care.
Screening does not provide a medical diagnosis. Where appropriate, applicants will be advised to speak with their GP, physiotherapist, ACC provider or another suitable healthcare professional before joining.
Participants will be asked to complete simple outcome measures at baseline, Week 6, Week 12 and, where possible, at follow-up.
These measures help us understand whether the pathway is acceptable and practical for nurses working shifts, and where further development may be needed.
How back pain is influencing daily life and function.
Frequency, duration and confidence responding to symptoms.
How symptoms affect shifts, duties and recovery.
Confidence knowing what to do when back pain changes.
The standard UK investment for the 12-week RESET™ Coaching pathway is £1,497.
This reduced New Zealand pilot rate recognises that participants are joining the first nurse cohort and will contribute feedback and outcome information to help evaluate the pathway within a New Zealand nursing context.
It is a founding pilot rate rather than a permanent discount, helping us keep the programme accessible while protecting the value of the RESET™ framework, app content and coached support.
Total investment for the supported 12-week pilot.
Includes:
The Body Systems™ App access for the agreed pilot period, the Back Pain Systems™ RESET™ pathway, weekly group coaching, local pilot support and outcome evaluation.
Teresa promotes and leads the pilot locally. Official application, screening, payment and enrolment are managed through Dr Jo Abbott / Back Pain Systems™.
