This Module brings the main foundation of biomechanics to life. We explore the design of the musculoskeletal structures and begin to understand how they may influence injury mechanics. Because of their construction muscle, tendons and ligaments behave like ropes or cables and effectively carry only one type of load: uniaxial tension. Learn how to work with the design of our systems. Human beings were not designed to move repetitively utilizing only a few tissues, nor were humans designed to not have their tissues stressed. Poor posture and movement can lead to local mechanical stress on the muscles, ligaments, and joints, resulting in complaints of the neck, back and other parts of the musculoskeletal system.
